History |
In order to know the origin of this company, which is the union of Industria La Proveedora and KRAKIS S.A., we must go back to two very different times. The first one, at the end of the last century, where Mr. Felipe Pozuelo Rivero, the founder of the most outstanding cookies producing family of our country, comes to Costa Rica. In 1919, along with his children, Enrique, Felipe, Alejandro y José, he starts a small business, that to this date is the biggest of Central America and the caribbean in producing cookies.
After many years he decides to inherit to his children the company, which years later is sold to “WR Grace Company”, and then they sold it to Riviana another North America firm, that at the moment operates the business.
In 1964, Mr. Felipe Pozuelo Apéstegui, decides to start a small snacks, candies and cookies business , which kept growing in the national and international market until it became Compañía Pozuelo Hnos. S.A. (COPOZ), a very recognized company in our country. Along with his son Marco Antonio Pozuelo and his grandchildren, Felipe, Vinicio and Federico they continue with the family tradition. COPOZ was sold to Nestle in December 1995. In july 1996, part of the company was bought from Nestle and this is how Krakis S.A. was formed.
In the other hand, existed “Industria La Proveedora Brenes” located in the Central Market, a place that has seen born and grow many generations of costa ricans. This company was founded by Mr. Reynaldo Brenes Cedeño and his wife, Lidia Ross Castillo; in order to supply the needs of many people in the market, selling peanuts, cookies and mainly coffee. This company begins to grow and people start looking for it to make their purchases.
In 1985, Mr. Reynaldo Brenes Ross, decides to place at national level these same products, but giving them an appereance and image of quality. He decides to put them in polypropylene bags and this is how Industria La Proveedora is born.
In November 1997, they analyze the possibility of making a union of this two companies and this is where Grupo Pozuelo & Pro is formed. This company produce all kinds of nuts, snacks and cookies, giving costa ricans a new quality product and this way becoming a company leader in food products.
Last December 2003, the prize of CADEXCO TO THE MERIT OF THE AGROINDUSTRIAL EXPORT EFFORT was granted to Grupo Pozuelo & Pro, given by the Export Chamber of Costa Rica in recognition of our continuous growth in the International Market.
Nowadays, the company is exporting its products to different places around the world, among them: England, France, Belgium, United States Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panamá, Nicaragua, y Guatemala.
